The French Community of Belgium has :
- A Parliament constituted of 75 members elected as members of the Walloon Parliament and of 19 members elected by the French linguistic group of the Brussels-Capital Region Council in its bosom. Those members are elected for a period of five years.
- A Government with maximum 8 members, President included, of whom at least one member has its residence in the Brussels-Capital Region. The members of the Government are elected by the Parliament of the French Community. They must not necessarily have been elected for the Parliament.
Through the principle of territoriality, the French Community of Belgium exclusively exerts its competencies in all the French-speaking linguistic region of the country.
As concerns the bilingual Brussels-Capital Region, the French and Flemish Communities are both competent : it has therefore been necessary to create three community commissions, each one having an Assembly and an Executive body.
