Following the matching stage in the case of an intercountry adoption
Description
Matching is the process of proposing an adoptive family for a particular child who has the skills to meet that child's needs.
Once the court has given its judgment of suitability, you must contact an Approved Adoption Organisation (OAA) to continue your adoption project.
If a match is possible, the organisation will help you put together your file.
The organisation will assist you with the adoption procedure abroad and the finalisation of this adoption under Belgian law, as well as with the administrative aspects: arrival of the child in Belgium, registration with the commune, etc.
Key points
- All adoptions must be supervised by an approved adoption organisation (OAA).
- You are free to choose the OAA you want.
- Please note that each OAA works with a limited number of countries.
- For intercountry adoption within the family, after obtaining the suitability judgment, you must contact the Adoption Directorate - ACC, which will be responsible for supervising the adoption project.
